The latest preservation option offered by SealCo is
Microsurfacing with our Multi-Coat
Micro-Aggregate Slurry-Seal™. This process utilizes a three
part application method. Each application builds surface mass while
effectively leveling voids and minor depressions resulting from loss of
aggregate bonding agents over the years.
Over time asphalt surfaces begin to break down and eventually
completely disintegrate. Weather and moisture are the primary causes of
these failures. Once the surface is penetrated, decomposition of hydro
carbon molecules in the asphalt cement acts rather quickly and the aggregates
begin to separate. Over time the surfaces become rough and the aggregate
polished, from weather and traffic volumes. This rough, course surface is
unsightly and difficult to maintain. If left untreated this process
continues and the sub-grade will eventually degrade to a point where substrate
integrity has been sacrificed to a point of no return.
Our Multi-Coat Micro-Aggregate Slurry-Seal™
helps to:
● Build surface mass.
● Rejuvenate the look
and beauty of old asphalt surfaces.
● Eliminate small voids
and depressions between the exposed aggregate.
● Provide for a surface
that is much easier to clean.
The process begins with cleaning, patching
and crack sealing of the asphalt surface as needed. For surfaces with
excessive polished aggregate, priming with
TARLOC MPC
is next. The first coat application is now ready to begin.
After allowing for drying the process, another coat is applied. Again,
after allowing for drying, the final 2 lb. coat is applied. The pound
ratings, i.e. 6 lb., 2 lb. etc., refer to the amount of aggregate in one
gallon of concentrated Slurry.
Surface should remain free of traffic for
24 hours if possible. Proper dry time and curing is dependent of
ambient humidity levels and air temperatures.
